Last week was the annual Scottish Highlands Festival in Phoenix, and being Scottish, we had to go enjoy the culture. It's great for people watching, as at least half the people are wearing kilts (some even have swords).
Overall it's pretty authentic, with a dancing competition and world-class athletes who come to compete in traditional Scottish events, such as tossing the Caber and the stone-put. The caber is essentially a large tree that they toss into the air and try to "turn" by getting it to flip end over end.
The stone-put is like shot-put, but with a huge stone. These guys were huge and had cool facial hair.
Scotty especially liked the pipe bands and drums and was riveted by them until he saw this:
Eric liked the reenactment of medieval times, including guys in extremely heavy chain mail and cool helmets whacking each other with sticks.
We also enjoyed some authentic (and not so authentic) Scottish food, as Eric was brave enough to try to wild boar bratwurst while I stuck with a hot dog :o)
