A Whole New World

From the other room, a little whimper becomes a grunt, accelerates into a cry, and then: silence.

*suck suck slurp suck slurp sluuuurp*

Scotty has discovered something amazing: he has two perfect hands! With long fingers to suck on! With fists that almost fit into his mouth!

Suddenly, his hands are no longer enemies that swat and stab at him, that callously rip his pacifier from his mouth, that scratch and tear at his nose and draw blood. They're toys! He now spends hours each day happily and noisily slurping at the side of his fists.

Scotty has also become more of a toy for mom and dad--we can now hand him things and he'll hold on to them and entertain himself! Already he's displaying amazing musical talents and cultural heritage:

Besides exhibiting latin rhythm, he also loves the new Winnie the Pooh mobile we bought this past week. While the theme song (Winnie the Pooh, Winnie the Pooh, chubby little cubby all stuffed with fluff he's Winnie the Pooh...) is already starting to drive his parents mad, he loves it and happily chirps and coos along.
